When life changes, therapy can help you find your footing again.
Individual and couples therapy in Newport Beach for adults navigating parenting challenges, caregiving stress, and life transitions that leave you feeling alone and confused.
Some seasons don’t come with a map. A marriage shifts. Children struggle. Your body changes. Aging parents need care. The role you played for years no longer fits. Therapy gives you a safe space to slow your thoughts, make sense of the noise, sort through what’s happening, and begin finding your way through.
Maybe the relationship that once felt easy and joyful now feels strained, tense, and full of the same tension and disagreement.
Maybe caregiving has made you the responsible one, the decision-maker, the emotional container, and somehow also the person who is supposed to “take care of yourself.”
Maybe aging, illness, parenting, marriage, grief, or a major transition has left you wondering, “How did we get here, and what am I supposed to do with all of this?”
Therapy with me is a place to look honestly at what is happening without rushing to fix, minimize, or pretend it’s fine. We’ll work to understand the patterns that contribute to the tension, strengthen communication, and create a steadier bridge between where you are now and where you want to be.
Meet Nadine Durbach
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
& Board Certified Diplomate
I’m Nadine, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Certified Diplomate with more than 30 years of clinical experience supporting individuals, couples, families, and organizations.
Clients typically see me to work on relationships, communication, aging, illness, caregiving, sexuality, mental health, and life transitions.
I help clients slow down, identify emotions, name what’s been hard to say, and begin making sense of the patterns affecting their relationships and choices, and develop coping tools to enhance their sense of self.
My approach is warm, compassionate, direct, and practical. I bring clinical depth, real-world perspective, innate wisdom, and a steady presence to conversations that can feel emotionally complicated, uncomfortable, or long overdue.

Areas of Expertise
Life rarely hands us one issue at a time. Relationship stress may overlap with caregiving. Aging may bring up family dynamics. Chronic illness may affect intimacy, identity, parenting, and partnership.
Therapy gives you the safe space to look at the full picture and begin building a clear path forward.
Therapy that helps you understand what keeps happening, not just survive it.
Many people come to therapy when the old ways of coping stop working. You may be tired of having the same argument, carrying the same resentment, over-functioning in the same role, or feeling like everyone depends on you while you quietly build resentment.
In our work together, we’ll look at the patterns underneath the stress. The repeated conversations. The family roles. The unspoken expectations. The grief, fear, pressure, or uncertainty that may be sitting beneath the surface.
From there, we can begin building something that feels anchoring, sturdy, and authentic: clearer communication, more honest relationships, better boundaries, deeper self-understanding, and a way forward that feels less like surviving and more like crossing into steadier ground.
Therapy can be a steady place for your complicated seasons.
I work with clients who are navigating changes that touch every part of life: marriage, family, health, aging, intimacy, identity, responsibility, and loss. These concerns are rarely simple. They deserve more than quick advice or one-size-fits-all coaching.
Therapy offers room to slow down and understand the full landscape. What is changing. What is asking for your attention. What can be repaired. What may need to be accepted. What conversations need to happen next, and what direction you would like to move forward in.
The bridge forward may not appear all at once. Sometimes it begins with one honest conversation, one clearer decision, and one step toward what comes next.
